FORT TRAUGUTTA

Pierwotnie zwany Fortem Aleksieja, powstał w 1850. Miała to być tzw. Baszta Montalemberta: dwia piętra nad ziemią i jedno pod, otoczone fosą. W latach 1864-74 fort zmodernizowano i dodano lunety i mur Carnota, a także usypano kojec skarpowy. W 1909 ominął ten fort rozkaz o likwidacji twierdzy, a że w czasie wojny nie wykorzystywano go specjalnie, przetrwał. W 1921 nadano mu imię Romualda Traugutta, straconego nieopodal w czasie powstania styczniowego. At first it was called Aleksiey's Fort, it was built in 1850. It was so called Montalembert's Keep: two floors above and one below the ground. It was surrended by the moat. In 1864-74 the fort was modernised: Carnot's wall and some keeps were added. In 1909 the russian government gave an order to destroy Fortress Warsaw, but this fort was omitted in the order. It wasn't used also during the 2. World War, so it lasts till today. Wn 1921 itgot a name of R. Traugutt, one of the directors of January Uprising in 1864 against Russians.

Dziś mieści się w forcie Archiwum Wojsk Lądowych, obok są boiska sportowe. W niektórych częściach mieszkają bezdomni. Today, there's Army's Achive in here, football and tennis fields and the homeless live in the parts which are not used...

Najlepsze jest to, że 2 lata temu osunął się kawałek ziemi wzdłuż fosy, gdzie biegła ul. Bonifraterska. I co?? Części fortu wylazły na powierzchnię, a Bonifraterska na odcinku Słomińskiego - Międzyparkowa jest zamknięta, bo nikt nie wie co teraz zrobić... 2 years ago the ground under the Bonifraterska Street fell down and showed the old, underground parts of the fort. But the street isn't in use since that time and nobody knows what to do with it: destroy the historical monument and make agood road or destroy the road and make something with the fort...
